BACKGROUND

The WX Systems Management and Team. From the left, company founder Patrick Aisher, Lars Finken, Chairman Richard Reynolds, Technical Instructor Ray Pearce, Geodetic Services Director Martin Rayson, Sales Director Samuel Stucki, and Chief Operating Officer Nils Lundstrom.

WX Systems Limited  was formed with the aim of developing software solutions in the field of  ICAO and FAA-based air navigation procedures. As a result the company makes the new WX1™ Series and the WXTERPS software related to specific areas of aviation; instrument approach and departure procedures, aeronautical information service (AIS) and airspace design. WX Systems also supplies software for airport planning and analysis.

WX Systems provides a set of software tools, which enable the complex calculations of ICAO Doc 8168 for PANS-OPS, to be quickly and accurately drawn to develop a procedure. Using these software tools, procedures can be completed in a fraction of the time required when processing them via traditional, manual methods.

Tried & Tested
Following initial research and development, WX-Systems' original software, launched under the WPD brand name, was thoroughly tested by the National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR) and the Eurocontrol Software Tools Working Group in 1995. Further tests were carried out by Stasys Limited and the Coba Consulting Group.

Users Worldwide
WX-Systems tools are used by 45 civil and military aviation authorities in over 110 locations worldwide, and the company is now widely regarded as the industry leader in computerised procedures design.

Award Winning
In 1997, WX-Systems received international recognition for setting standards in the increasing automation/computerization of aeronautical data when it was awarded finalist prize in the International Aerospace Awards in Paris.

SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE & USER GROUPS

WX Systems users gather at first international users meeting in Versailles, in 2000.

One of the company's key strengths, apart from its award winning software, is its ability to provide an all round service to its clients to include a year round, maintenance service. All WX-Systems Software is fully supported and advice and assistance is offered at all times. The WX-Systems maintenance agreement also includes new versions of the software.

WX-Systems listens to its customers to ensure that the software is always in the forefront of our industry needs. For this reason WX--Systems encourages the formation of customer User Groups where its main executives will attend user group meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for users in a specific area to discuss their current problems and make suggestions for new features within the software. National User Groups exist in various countries already.

Training
Over ten years ago, WX-Systems established its own training courses for professionals using the software. Since that time, a schedule of courses have been organised including: the Basic WX-Systems Air Navigation Training Course, Advanced Training Course, Introduction to PANS-OPS and Designing Procedures in Environmentally Sensitive Areas. Courses are held regularly throughout the year either at a WX-Systems designated training centre or onsite.
