WAVIONIX LAUNCHES NEW WPD VERSION 5 NEW FEATURES TO MAKE PROCEDURES SAFER, FASTER, MORE EFFICIENT

Wavionix Software Ltd, the industry leaders in procedures design, has launched its latest version of the award winning Wavionix Procedures Designer (WPD) software.

The new Version 5 of WPD will be immediately viewed by existing, and potential users as dramatically different in look.  New buttons now give the user direct access to many key tools within the Wavionix program, which in turn provide substantial time savings over manual methods.

WPD5 eliminates the manual trial and error process used to calculate and graphically draw procedures for the verification of obstacle protection areas.  These procedures are subsequently translated into maps for pilots on aircraft.  In addition, the software's 3 D capability means that virtual reality can be part of the procedure design.

All the procedures and calculations of the software comply with the recommendations laid down by ICAO in Document 8168 PANS-OPS.

NEW FEATURES:

VOR/DME Race Track Holding Pattern this program will construct the protection areas for a VOR/DME holding pattern.  Avoiding the need to make a template.  The program will now produce this data in three dimensions, which was not possible in Version 4. The program creates the total protection and secondary areas and all sector entries.  At least a day's work for any procedures designer can be saved using this program.

WAVIONIX SOFTWARE LAUNCHES VERSION 5

- a range of the most commonly used ICAO and Jeppesen charting symbols are now provided as blocks.

Contour Altitude Adjustment this tool can be used to assist in digitising contours in 3D airspace.  Using this program even terrain can be digitised.

Database Insertion now data can be imported into WPD 5 in latitude and longitude.  The data will be automatically converted into X and Y.  You can import and automatically draw airspace in 2 or 3 dimensions. In addition, the program will import and automatically draw and annotate routes. The time saving for the airspace aspect of this program alone is at least a day.

Data Search and Change now data can be easily retrieved, amended and manipulated with this program.   You can request the program to bring up specific data, or click on a symbol and request a search of that symbol.  The program will search for any combination of information that is in the object attribute box. The time saving benefits of this program are almost incalculable.  Searching for data can be an extremely lengthy process, so this tool avoids the tedium of hours of searching.

Bearing and Distance - The user can determine the bearing and distance from any position to another. It can also determine a second position using this bearing and distance program. In addition, it will automatically draw routes with either ICAO or Jeppesen symbols.  Previously, the Wavionix user would have found this exercise very difficult.  The new program reduces the whole process to clicking and pointing on a button thereby saving hours of tedious calculations.

Wavionix Software is currently used by over 25 aviation authorities in 40 locations. Today, it is the most widely used and tested software tool for procedures design on the market.  Says Managing Director, Patrick Aisher: "Over the past 12 months existing users including The Mitre Corporation, USA; the UK CAA, and the Swedish CAA, have all purchased more than one license testifying to Wavionix's continued success in this highly specialised area of air navigation software tools".
