The ReportHandler (The WX ReportHandler™) is a tool that is open to all personnel of all companies participating in the complex activities going on at an airport. It helps to maintain a high level of security and safety and empowers airport management to comply with environmental and quality demands. The WX ReportHandler™ is designed to encourage people to report all kinds of deviations from normal airport activities. By using The WX ReportHandler™, defects and shortcomings can be identified and taken care of by corrective and preventive measures. In the long run this leads to higher safety and efficiency which benefits customers and profits and thus everyone working in the airport business.
Users enter reports into The WX ReportHandler™ by using any PC or CUTE terminal connected to the intranet or extranet. Via a web browser they simply fill in a form that allows them to enter free text but also to choose from a number of carefully chosen keywords that characterize the deviation from normal procedures or incidents in question.
After the report has been submitted it is stored as a case in a database. The WX ReportHandler™ analyzes the keywords and automatically sends e-mail to every party who should know about the case, for example the person responsible for the area or process in question, or the quality or security departments, both of the reporter's and other concerned companies.
All cases in the database always have a responsible handler connected to them, which prevents them from "getting lost". When a handler logs into The WX ReportHandler™ he is presented with a to-do list of open errands.
After the handler has dealt with the errand he archives it together with his comments. During processing the errand can be delegated to other persons or sent to other persons for comments. The WX ReportHandler™ - the architecture The system is built with the latest, well proven software technology for easy maintenance and integration with other software systems. It uses the standard web and database protocols and languages HTTP, HTML, Java, and SQL. This enables people familiar with web browsing to use the system without any prior training. This also makes it very easy to integrate The WX ReportHandler™ with any other databases and analyzing tools like spreadsheet programs or data mining tools for visualization and decision support.
